Plant Lover

Hey everyone! It’s been a crazy weekend at our house celebrating my littlest’s birthday. But now it’s Monday and I’m hoping this week will go back to our normal schedule. Preferably with no snow days….ha! I drew this little doodle on my iPad this past week. My dad is a gardener and has an amazing green thumb. He taught me everything I know about plants and flowers. When the weather is warm, we always walk around his yard/garden and he likes to show me all the new blooms coming up. It’s our thing that we like to do together. I definitely get me love of plants and flowers from him. So this quick little sketch is dedicated to my Dad. Enjoy!

Love You Valentine

I can’t believe Valentines Day is just next week. How is that possible? I’ve been trying to come up with some new designs this year for love day. This is one that I created just for the occasion. It’s definitely more like a doodle. My doodles tend to look like tattoo drawings. That is how all my sketchbook pages looked like in high school. I still really like that style of drawing. I drew this out digitally using my apple pencil and the Procreate app. Technology has definitely come a long way since my high school sketch book days….I love it! Enjoy!

Cat & Dog Pet Portrait

Hey everyone! Today I’m posting a pet portrait that I was commissioned to make. I was referred to her by a dear friend on a group in Facebook. It’s amazing what referrals and recommendations can do. I appreciate them all! I painted a pet portrait of her cat and dog together out of watercolor. I used photos for reference. Below are some of the process photos of the portrait. I love painting animals! If you are in the need for a pet portrait, send me a message for a quote!

Merry Christmas Snowman

Merry Christmas from Ruth Miller Creative! It’s been an amazing Christmas season for my family. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! This cute snowman was created digitally with Procreate.

I’ll Put a Spell Witch Hat

It’s Hocus Pocus season! I had to create something to go along with one of my favorite movies. I loved watching it when I was a little girl and still love watching it every year. I wanted to continue lettering, so I made sure to practice using my own handwriting for the phrase. I tried to keep the hat and the overall picture simple so the lettering would shine. I like how it turned out, but I will definitely keep working on my hand lettering. Enjoy!

Hello Pumpkin

It’s finally starting to feel a little bit like Fall around here in Kansas City. Which makes me very excited! I’m ready for cooler days, so I can wear sweaters, scarves and boots. I’m tired of getting all sweaty! To get in the fall spirit, I have been drawing fall related stuff lately. Be ready for a flood of fall drawings! Here is one of the pieces I drew in my sketchbook recently. I wanted to keep practicing my hand lettering. I drew it out with pen and colored it in with Prismacolor markers. I just added this piece in my Society6 and Redbubble shops on products. Just use the tab at the top of my page to direct you to those shops. Enjoy!

Cat With Sunnies

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It was hot here in KC over the past couple of days. Just plain hot! I drew this cool cat while my boys were swimming away in the pool. I sketched her out and colored her in using the program Procreate. I really liked the way it was headed but it needed something else. I usually hide my sketch layer, but decided to turn it on over the what I had colored in already. It was exactly what this piece needed. I love the result! This cool cat will make it on to my shops soon! Be on the look out!

Love Grows Best

Happy Sunday everyone! Ever since I saw this phrase on some wall art online, I knew that I wanted to recreate my own version of this. I wanted to keep it pretty simple with art and color. I like how graphic it turned out. It would look great on many products and wall art. I just added this to my shops, if you feel you need this in your house too!

Hello 2019

It’s the beginning on a new year and I have so much to be thankful for. I had a pretty great 2018. It wasn’t a monumental year by any means, but it was filled with new and old friends, family time and creative explorations. I can’t complain at all! This new year has some pretty big shoes to fill. I hope 2019 will flourish my creative endeavors. My goal is to be creating something new everyday and to maybe be able to do some vendor shows this year. What is your goal for the year? I wish every one a fantastic 2019!

Cheers!

Happy New Years Eve! I can’t believe another year has come and gone. I’m so glad that I finally got out of my creative comma and have been able to enjoy creating new things every day. It has been really satisfying for my soul. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years and an amazing 2019! Thanks for all the support!
