Izzy Pup

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted anything new in the past couple of weeks. We recently had a new addition to our family. We adopted a cute little pup. Her name is Izzy and she is a bordoodle (border collie/poodle mix). She is so cute and fluffy. We love her to pieces! Having a new puppy is just like having a newborn baby in the household. So it has been hard to get anything done and most of my time has been devoted to our new puppy. I did finally get to squeeze some time in while she was napping and create a portrait of her. I drew it digitally using Procreate and tried to capture her fluffy fur with some brushes. I can’t wait to keep creating new content and hopefully getting into routine with Izzy. Welcome to the Ruth Miller Creative family Izzy! Enjoy!

Flower Power Pup

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July. We were able to sneak away to see family in Wisconsin. We didn’t do too much, but it was a nice change of scenery. While we were there, I was able to work on some drawings during some downtime. We had our pup Moe along with us for our getaway. So he inspired this cute drawing of this flower power pup. I drew this using Procreate and it took me the longest time to figure out what color of background I wanted to use. I finally landed on the color purple. I feel like I do not use it enough. I just uploaded this cute flower power pup to my Society6 and Redbubble shops. It is available on prints and array of products. Enjoy!

Homebody

Hey everyone! Are you a homebody? I am! I’m not ashamed to admit! On normal circumstances I enjoy being at home, having alone time to my self and like being in my own element. I guess you can say I’m an introverted extrovert. I love being around my friends and family but I tend to hit a wall and need to have space to myself to recharge. Anyone else like that? I will say that with this pandemic, I am getting a little stir crazy. I don’t know how much longer I can manage staying in my house and not start to hate it. I know I am not the only one! I did this quick drawing last night to help keep my sanity. I drew this cute happy pup in his house with the phrase homebody. He is definitely happy to stay home!  Keep calm everyone, stay safe and keep being creative!

Spring Boho Poodle

So how’s everyone doing? Needless to say I know everyone is under extra stress and have had major daily changes. This is week 2 of staying home for our family (minus my husband since he works at a hospital). I feel like we may be getting into a routine, but who knows how our new normal is going to be. I have been trying to stay positive and keep busy creating new artwork. Drawing tends to help me escape reality and by all means I need it right now. Here is one of the drawings that I have created recently. I love poodles and how fluffy they are. I definitely wanted to make it scream Spring, so I decided to include a flower crown. Hopefully everyone stays home, keep healthy and is able to find a new normal. Enjoy!

Birthday Pup

Today is a special day! It is my youngest son’s 5th birthday. I can’t believe he’s 5! That means I have been not working (except freelance) for 5 years now. It boggles my mind. It feels like he was born just yesterday and now we are headed to Kindergarten round up for next year. How is this possible! Well my youngest son is obsessed with all puppies and kitties, actually animals in general. I wanted to make a cute pup in honor of his birthday. I created this puppy in Procreate and really love how he turned out. Happy Birthday Goober!

Cat & Dog Pet Portrait

Hey everyone! Today I’m posting a pet portrait that I was commissioned to make. I was referred to her by a dear friend on a group in Facebook. It’s amazing what referrals and recommendations can do. I appreciate them all! I painted a pet portrait of her cat and dog together out of watercolor. I used photos for reference. Below are some of the process photos of the portrait. I love painting animals! If you are in the need for a pet portrait, send me a message for a quote!

Christmas Pup

2 days until Christmas! I repeat 2 days until Christmas! My boys have been counting down the days very closely all week long. I get an update the minute I get up in the morning. It’s been pretty funny to see how much they are excited about Christmas this year. This fun Christmas pup was created for one of my Christmas cards one year. He was made with pen and marker and then scanned in. I put the snowflakes in the background using Photoshop. This cute guy always puts a smile on my face!

Moving Critters

Hey everyone! This past weekend was basically a wash….literally it rained all weekend and it’s still raining. So a lot of our activities that were planned were cancelled. But hey, what can you do? Here is a commissioned piece I did for a friend to put on a moving card. The animals are their 3 actual pets. I used photos of them and tried to make the likeness as much close as I could. They made postcards to mail their new address to everyone after moving into their new house. I think they turned out really cute. If you need custom art, just shoot me a message!

Yip, Yip Hooray!

Happy Monday! Here is a quick sketch I did recently. I wanted to do a cute little drawing with a dachshund/weener dog. I think this will be super cute on a greeting card. I’m hoping to have this up in my shops later today. I hope everyone has a great week!

Sadie

Today’s throw back Thursday #tbt is dedicated to one of the coolest dogs I have had the pleasure of knowing. A few years back I started trying to do pet portraits and I was able to get a few commission requests. While doing this on the side, I was working at Old Navy. My boss Becky has always had the coolest dogs and loves dogs with a great passion. Her dogs were her babies. When Becky got Sadie as a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, my whole work family threw her a shower just to welcome her to our family. We all were able to watch Sadie grow and grow. Unfortunately, when Sadie passed away, I knew I needed to make something special for Becky. So I painted this portrait of her from a Facebook picture she had of her and surprised her with it. It’s probably one of the more personal paintings that I have done. If you or anyone you know need any pet portraits or custom artwork done, shoot me a message! I love doing custom art!
