Find Joy in the Ordinary

Hey everyone! It is finally starting to warm up around here. Yay for Spring! I love seeing the flowers starting to emerge from the ground, hearing the birds chirp and being able to open the windows. It’s the little things that make me happy and I am finding joy in them. I love Spring because it just feels like a new start every year. This year especially feels different because of Covid. It feels like there is some hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope the year keeps looking up! This piece was drawn in Procreate and I knew that I wanted to incorporate colorful flowers. I wanted it to scream Spring and it does just that. Enjoy!

Best Wishes, Warmest Regards

Hi everyone! We have been doing a lot of binging shows on Netflix this past year. What’s your favorite show? Our favorite show has been hands down Schitt’s Creek. I’ve been wanting to hand letter some phrases from this show. I finally got one completed over the holiday weekend. One of my favorite parts of the show is the friendship and sass between David Rose and Stevie Budd, especially the phrase “Best Wishes, Warmest Regards”. I drew this out in Procreate and decided it needed some Roses and flowers to compliment it. I have put this design up in my shops. Enjoy!

Fall Pumpkin and Flowers

Hey everyone! The fall weather is in full force this week in Kansas City. And I’m loving it! Here is a drawing that I worked on this past week using Procreate. I discovered a couple of new watercolor brushes and decided to play around with them. To be honest, I haven’t really liked any of the watercolor brushes on the program. I just don’t like the effect that make and doesn’t appear realistic. These new brushes are definitely closer to the effect that I’m wanting to achieve. I was really pleased with the overall look! I will definitely incorporate them into my future drawings. Enjoy!

Green Field of Flowers

Hey everyone! It was a busy but fun weekend for my family. We have been painting trim in our house trying to eliminate all traces of the eighties from my house…lol! It’s been a project! Slowly bur surely we are getting it tackled. We also had a small birthday party for my niece at our house. She is turning 11 and starting middle school this year, so we wanted to make sure she had a fun celebration with swimming, pizza, cake and ice cream. It was a good change of pace with everything that is going on. It felt great celebrating something! This drawing was created this past week between projects. I think I have flowers on the brain. I have definitely been drawing inspiration from them on my past couple of pieces. I drew these whimsical flowers digitally using Procreate. I also used green as the primary color because it’s my all time favorite color. It soothes my soul! I hope you all enjoy this little bit of whimsy!

Handful of Watercolor Flowers

Hey everyone! This is a small watercolor piece I did recently for myself during some downtime between projects. I drew what I love best….flowers! They really aren’t any actual real flower species but I love the cartoon nature of them. I tried to just keep them really bright and colorful. They just make me happy when I see them and that’s how art should be. Art should give you some kind emotion just by viewing it. Below is the initial sketch that I started with and the the second image is how the finished painting turned out. I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I did creating it. It is also available on product in my Society6 and Redbubble shops. Enjoy!

Flower Power Pup

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July. We were able to sneak away to see family in Wisconsin. We didn’t do too much, but it was a nice change of scenery. While we were there, I was able to work on some drawings during some downtime. We had our pup Moe along with us for our getaway. So he inspired this cute drawing of this flower power pup. I drew this using Procreate and it took me the longest time to figure out what color of background I wanted to use. I finally landed on the color purple. I feel like I do not use it enough. I just uploaded this cute flower power pup to my Society6 and Redbubble shops. It is available on prints and array of products. Enjoy!

White Summer Flowers

Hey everyone! Here is a quick little digital drawing that I did while my boys were swimming and having fun. I love flowers and creating patterns with them. You can probably tell that by looking at my portfolio…lol! Even though these flowers came straight from my head and don’t have a real name, I love how they look very summer forward. We have been doing a lot of landscaping this summer in our front and back yard. It’s always so fun and satisfying to see everything grow and bloom. I just uploaded these beauties to my Society6 and Redbubble shops for purchase on prints and products. Enjoy!

Cute Summer Raccoon

Summer is officially here! The pool is up, the fire pit is set up and the heat is definitely rising. It’s time to kick off the summer right. It will be nice to finally be around family and have some much needed fun. I drew summer raccoon to give some happiness right now. This cute little fella was created digitally with my iPad using Procreate. I love all the background which makes me feel like I’m in a summer field of wild flowers. This cute raccoon is now available on prints and products in my Society6 and Redbubble shops. Enjoy!

Summer Lemons

Hey everyone! Now that home schooling is over with, it officially feels like summer. We were able to sneak away to Wisconsin for Memorial Day weekend for a change of scenery. Even though we didn’t do too much, it was nice to see my in laws and husbands side of the family. With plenty of social distancing, of course! The temperature over the weekend heated up and it was instantly pool weather. It immediately made me think of lemonade, one of my family’s favorite summer drinks. Here is a illustration of some fun summer lemons. I used Procreate to create them digitally with my iPad. I have uploaded this lemon art to my Society6 and Redbubble shops. Enjoy!

Group of Blue Pansies

Hey all! If you haven’t noticed I love drawing and painting nature. I tend to have a lot of flower and animal subject matter. What can I say I love nature more than people…lol! Recently I did a watercolor series of a moth and some flowers. This group of blue pansies is the final watercolor of that set. I started off by drawing out the pansies with watercolor pencils, so I could prevent pencil lines showing through the paint. Then I used many layers of watercolor to get to the final painting. I just uploaded this painting up on my Society6 and Redbubble shops. So if you love these pansies as much as I do, they are now available on prints, mugs, tees and masks. Remember to support small business and artists during these crazy times.
