It’s All A Bunch Of Hocus Pocus

Hi all! There is only 2 weeks until Halloween! We watched my favorite Halloween movie last night, Hocus Pocus. I know that it has blown up in popularity recently, but I have loved it since it first came out. It’s very nostalgic to me! I decided to make a lettering piece out of one of the quotes from the movie. It’s possibly one of my favorite scenes from the movie. I created this piece digitally using Procreate. I wanted the quote to be front and center by keeping the the other graphics pretty simple. I just added this piece to my Society6 and Redbubble shops on prints and products. Enjoy!

Tinsel in a Tangle

Hello everyone! 2 days until Christmas! I saw this phrase last year on something and loved it! It’s the perfect saying for this time of year. I knew that I wanted to put my own spin on it and practice doing lettering. I used Procreate and it’s brushes to make the lettering, wreath and the rustic wood planks in the background. I wanted to keep it simple and to the point. Love the overall look!

Hello Winter

Hi everyone! So Thanksgiving is over with and now it’s starting to feel like Christmas. Which also means the weather is going to get crazy and cold. The one thing I do enjoy about the cold weather is getting to wear hats and scarves. I love the feeling of being cozy! I began this sketch before Thanksgiving, but wasn’t able to finish it until this week due to the holiday craziness and everyone being sick in my house. So here is the finished piece. I used watercolor to color everything in and outlined it with a micron pen. I love using microns with watercolor because they do not bleed when touched with water. This piece is available in my Society6 and Redbubble shops!

I’ll Put a Spell Witch Hat

It’s Hocus Pocus season! I had to create something to go along with one of my favorite movies. I loved watching it when I was a little girl and still love watching it every year. I wanted to continue lettering, so I made sure to practice using my own handwriting for the phrase. I tried to keep the hat and the overall picture simple so the lettering would shine. I like how it turned out, but I will definitely keep working on my hand lettering. Enjoy!

Hello Pumpkin

It’s finally starting to feel a little bit like Fall around here in Kansas City. Which makes me very excited! I’m ready for cooler days, so I can wear sweaters, scarves and boots. I’m tired of getting all sweaty! To get in the fall spirit, I have been drawing fall related stuff lately. Be ready for a flood of fall drawings! Here is one of the pieces I drew in my sketchbook recently. I wanted to keep practicing my hand lettering. I drew it out with pen and colored it in with Prismacolor markers. I just added this piece in my Society6 and Redbubble shops on products. Just use the tab at the top of my page to direct you to those shops. Enjoy!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day from Ruth Miller Creative! I hope all the Mother’s out there have a relaxing and enjoyable day. I saw this phrase on a sign and knew I wanted to put my take on it. I drew this bright yellow sunflower digitally in Procreate and then added the phrase on top. Enjoy your day everyone!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I hope everyone has a great day consisting of family, friends and chocolate bunnies…lol! Sorry I love chocolate, it’s my favorite. Especially Cadbury Mini Eggs! I have a couple bags hidden just for myself. This piece was drawn out digitally using Procreate. Enjoy!

Good Idea

Hey everyone! It’s Monday….ugh! I hope my morning doesn’t mean my whole week is going to be horrible. We had a pretty good snowfall this past weekend. It was great until I had to get out this morning to take my son to school. My car go stuck getting out of my driveway. Luckily I have some awesome neighbors that took my son to school for me and helped me get my car unstuck. If my whole week is going to be like this morning, I’m crawling back into bed until it passes. This doodle was drawn in my sketchbook using pen and marker. I hope everyone has a better Monday than I have had!

Home

Today is a special day to me! It is my wedding anniversary. I have been married to my awesome husband for 9 years. Time has really flown by! Last weekend I was out of town and I couldn’t wait to get back home to Bryant and my boys. They are my home! Here is a piece I did to illustrate the feeling I had this past week. I drew and colored it in digitally. I just put this up on my Etsy and Society6 shops. My Etsy shop is 25% off until Mother’s Day – no code needed. My Society6 shop is also having a sale – 40% off art prints, 30% off mugs and carry all pouches & 20% off everything else. Use code MOMGIFTS at the checkout. Here are the links!

Family of Converses

This awesome watercolor painting was a commissioned piece for my friend and her cute family. She wanted a unique family portrait using Converse shoes in each family member’s favorite color. It was painted on illustration board and it’s dimensions are 12″x36″. I had a lot of fun painting this and loved seeing it take shape. Below I have included a string of photos that show the progression of the first blue shoe. If you are looking for a custom piece, shoot me a message for a quote!
