O is for Octopus

#tbt Hi! I’m pleased to introduce you to Mr. Octopus! This is a gem from my college years. It’s from a series of 26 animals for an alphabet book I created for my thesis. It was probably the most challenging yet fun projects I have ever worked on. I will introduce a few more of these animal in Thursday’s to come. Keep your eyes peeled! Watercolor painting using Winsor and Newton paints.

Octopus – Watercolor & Digital

Happy President’s Day

Happy President’s Day! Have fun hanging out on a much needed day off! Sketch made with watercolor and pen.

Just Chillin’

This has been the year of water in our family. We are trying to get both of our boys more comfortable in the water, which means swimming lessons. My oldest hated the water, so we knew he was going to be a challenge. We told him that if he followed instructions, listened to his teachers and tried his best that we would all go to Great Wolf Lodge. And sure enough it worked for both of them. It has been a night and day difference with how comfortable they are in the water since October. So this sketch is a celebratory swim victory! Sketch made with pen and markers.

Gunner

#tbt This is portrait I made of my first fur baby, Gunner. She was a very sassy labradoodle that my husband I rescued before we got married. She had a lot of quirks, she loved to run and would only eat her food if we placed her food dish in the room we were in. We miss her dearly!

Bee My Valentine

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope you all have an amazing day filled with love and your favorite things. My ideal of the perfect Valentine’s Day is hanging out with my family and eating candy. Low key equals perfection in my book. Love each other everyday like it’s Valentine’s Day!

You’re My Boo!

Happy Monday! My favorite day of the week….says no one ever! Here is another Valentine’s Day sketch I have been working on. It’s cute play on words. You kinda have to appreciate anytime you can incorporate a ghost outside of Halloween. Sketch made using watercolor and then outlined with black pen.

Colorful Birds

#tbt My favorite birds! This piece was created during a huge transition in my life. These birds are the inspiration behind the logo for Ruth Miller Creative. Check out my facebook page Ruth Miller Creative to see my full logo! Sketched out on paper then digitally colored in.

Love You More Than Donuts!

Good morning, Wednesday! Here is my new Valentines Day inspired sketch. It’s simple, to the point and revolves around donuts. Who doesn’t love donuts? They are a crowd pleaser at my house. Even my picky eater will devour a sprinkle donut in seconds. I hope your day is just as sweet as this pink donut! Sketch made with pen and markers.

Love Monster

I knew when I started to begin thinking of ideas for valentines that I needed to include a monster. Monsters are so cute! I did my sons first birthday party in monster theme and it was freaking adorable. There was no doubt that monsters could be irresistibly charming on a Valentine as well. I now present to you Mr. Love Monster… Sketch made with pen and markers.

Peanut Butter To My Jelly

Welcome to my first #tbt Throwback Thursday post! I would love to share with you all some of my favorite work I have done on Thursdays. They are oldies but goodies in my book. Here is this weeks. I made this sweet piece for a card to give to my hubby one year for Valentines Day. I loved how it turned out so much that I framed it and put it in my kitchen. Sketch made drawn then colored digitally.
