Sea Stained Glass

We have made it to June! I can’t believe it is already summer. Hopefully this summer will be full of pool time, popsicles on the deck and making fun memories. Once place that I wish we could visit this summer is the beach and ocean. It may just not happen this time around because of Corona virus. The one thing that I love to do while at the beach is looking for shells and sea glass. When I first started working on this watercolor painting, I didn’t know exactly what color story I was going to use. I ended up using blues and greens. The end result looks like a stained glass window using sea glass from the beach. It made my heart happy even though I wasn’t at the ocean. This painting is available on prints and product in my Society6 and Redbubble shops!

Summer Lemons

Hey everyone! Now that home schooling is over with, it officially feels like summer. We were able to sneak away to Wisconsin for Memorial Day weekend for a change of scenery. Even though we didn’t do too much, it was nice to see my in laws and husbands side of the family. With plenty of social distancing, of course! The temperature over the weekend heated up and it was instantly pool weather. It immediately made me think of lemonade, one of my family’s favorite summer drinks. Here is a illustration of some fun summer lemons. I used Procreate to create them digitally with my iPad. I have uploaded this lemon art to my Society6 and Redbubble shops. Enjoy!

Group of Blue Pansies

Hey all! If you haven’t noticed I love drawing and painting nature. I tend to have a lot of flower and animal subject matter. What can I say I love nature more than people…lol! Recently I did a watercolor series of a moth and some flowers. This group of blue pansies is the final watercolor of that set. I started off by drawing out the pansies with watercolor pencils, so I could prevent pencil lines showing through the paint. Then I used many layers of watercolor to get to the final painting. I just uploaded this painting up on my Society6 and Redbubble shops. So if you love these pansies as much as I do, they are now available on prints, mugs, tees and masks. Remember to support small business and artists during these crazy times.

Choose Happy

Hey everyone! I feel like this week I finally had a wave of creativity and have had many ideas just flowing out of my brain. It’s been really nice since it feels like I have hit a creative block during this quarantine. I have been having to force myself to sit and draw. So I will definitely embrace this spurt of creativity. Here is one of the doodles that I did last night on my iPad using the Procreate app. It’s nothing too fancy, but I like how it turned out. This message does really come at a good time! We should all try to choose happiness during these uncertain times. I am really trying to practice this daily. What kind of things are you trying to do to keep happy? I have been trying to keep creative, baking my favorite treats, enjoying my garden and making simple home improvements. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe! Enjoy!

Think Positive

Hey everyone! Here is a lettering doodle that I did this past week. I downloaded some new procreate brushes and had fun playing around with them. I know the phrase “think positive” is pretty basic, but it should definitely be the motto right now with everything happening around us. I have repeatedly had to say this to myself during this quarantine. I know I’m probably not the only one! So I just felt that I should just put this out there in case someone needs to read that phrase today. I also played around with the animation feature in Procreate and thought it would be cool to see it come to life. I just put this design up in my Society6 and Redbubble shops if you would like a print to help inspire you daily.

Happy Mother’s Day 2020

Happy Mother’s Day from Ruth Miller Creative! I hope all the mother’s out there have a fabulous day and are spoiled rotten. I especially want to wish my mom Kristy and mother in law Stacey a very Happy Mother’s Day. We appreciate everything you both do for our family! I created this drawing this past week while my two boys were working on school work. I wanted to keep it bright and cheery to mimic Spring. Luckily the weather will be cooperating with us in KC. The temperature is cool, the flowers are blooming and it just feels great to be outside. We have gotten so much landscaping done in the past two weeks and our yard looks great. I love being outside and doing yard work. Make sure to enjoy outside and celebrate all the mom’s in your life! Enjoy!

Watercolor Poppies

Hey everyone! Here is a watercolor painting that I worked on this past weekend. It is a painting of some Poppies. I have always liked Poppies for their name and how vibrant they are. They are just little bursts of color that pop up! I posted a work in progress photo on my Facebook and Instagram and here is the finished painting. It really turned out better than I had imagined. If you would like to follow my work on Facebook or Instagram, just click the buttons above on my menu and it will bring you to like or follow my pages. On those pages I usually post work in progress shots, inspiration and revisit some of my older pieces. I hope to see you there!

Face Masks

Hey everyone! Redbubble just launched face masks to their site. Which means you can now have wearable art of mine for your face. The masks have two layers of washable 100% brushed woven polyester. The print is on the outer layer. They have over-ear elastic straps for a snug fit over mouth and nose. Masks come in one size and fit most adults. They are $12.50 or $10 if you buy 4 or more.

For every mask sold, Redbubble will be donating a mask to Heart to Heart International. Heart to Heart International works with volunteers, partners, and donors to make healthcare more accessible. They have launched international, domestic, and local responses to COVID-19.

If you or someone you know is looking for some please visit my Redbubble shop!
