Hey everyone! It has been a crazy couple of months for me lately. From having surgery to the boys spring sports starting up, it feels very hectic already this spring. I was asked by the PTA of my kids school to create a cute flyer for their Fine Arts Night. It’s a fun night to display all the kids artwork, look at the book fair, listen to choir, band & stings concerts. It was really fun to create and I tried to make sure each element of the evening was included in the illustration. The mascot for the school is a bear, so I made sure he was front and center. I hope you all enjoy it as much I as I did creating it!

Hey everyone! School has officially started in my house last week. So this will be my boys first full week back to school. In the past couple years I have created spirit wear for the elementary school. This year I was asked to make an 80’s themed logo. I also created a couple of other options and the parents voted on the top two that they liked. The 80’s theme and a rainbow logo were the top two picks. These logos will be on tees and sweatshirts for the school. I also painted bulletin board for the PTA with the rainbow logo. Below is a pic of my boys and the bulletin board. I hope everyone has a great back to school!
Hi everyone! It’s been a little crazy at our house the past week. After all the chaos going on in our nation and having to be under quarantine, I needed to see something colorful. I started doodling and ended up creating this cool geometric color wheel. It looks like a rainbow prism. It’s so bright and cheerful. Plus, it includes all my favorite colors. I hope this brightens everyone’s mood! i just added this to my Society6 and Redbubble shops, if you would like to own a piece of a happy colorful prism. Enjoy!
Hey everyone! I feel like this week I finally had a wave of creativity and have had many ideas just flowing out of my brain. It’s been really nice since it feels like I have hit a creative block during this quarantine. I have been having to force myself to sit and draw. So I will definitely embrace this spurt of creativity. Here is one of the doodles that I did last night on my iPad using the Procreate app. It’s nothing too fancy, but I like how it turned out. This message does really come at a good time! We should all try to choose happiness during these uncertain times. I am really trying to practice this daily. What kind of things are you trying to do to keep happy? I have been trying to keep creative, baking my favorite treats, enjoying my garden and making simple home improvements. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe! Enjoy!
Hey everyone! This week has been a whirlwind, hasn’t it? We went from just being on Spring Break to no school for the rest of the year within just a matter of days. I totally understand their reasoning, but it’s just very sad that my kids can’t finish the rest of the year in school. All the projects and lessons they were learning, seeing their friends and playing sports are just on a permanent delay. I really just don’t like all the uncertainty this situation is bringing. I’ve been trying to utilize my time and I have been able to get some drawing time in everyday. Here is a quick drawing that I did yesterday. I feel like everyone, including myself, needed to see an uplifting image. So here is a rainbow for you to see and hopefully make your spirits brighter even if it’s just for a moment. Enjoy!
Happy Monday! I recently got the opportunity to hang up some of my artwork and be featured in a local coffee shop. One of the pieces that I put up was a watercolor painting of bubble flowers (left picture). I really liked how it turned out and wanted to explore this concept a little bit more. So I tried it out digitally. I played around in my Procreate app and fell in love with the black background against all the pops of colors (right picture). It’s really like how graphic it is. If you like the look of these prints, the version on white is up in my shops and I will have the version on black up today. Enjoy!
Hey everyone! It’s finally the beginning of a new week. Time to start fresh…here’s to hoping it’s a good one! Here’s a cute little turtle that I drew this past weekend. He was starting to look a little drab at first, so I decided to spruce up his shell. I think the rainbow colors definitely helped this little guy out. I used the program Procreate from start to finish creating him. I hope he brightens your day!

I hope this Monday morning is treating everyone well. The weather here in Kansas City has been definitely crazy for it being the month of April. I feel that if I keep creating more Spring art pieces, the sooner it will start feeling like it. But this weather is just not cooperating. Please Mother Nature let the warm sun come out soon! This piece was made using Procreate on my IPad Pro using an Apple Pencil. From start to finish, it was created digitally while watching my kids favorite movie Ghost Busters for the millionth time. (I love it too!) Atleast something productive came from it. You can now shop this design at my Society6 shop at https://society6.com/ruthmillercreative. Have a happy Monday!
Happy Monday! Today starts the week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. Everything is going to be covered with clovers, rainbows, leprechauns and all things green. Green is my favorite color, so it’s nice to have a holiday that embraces it. So this week will be full of St. Patrick’s posts to get you ready for the big day.
