Watercolor Seahorse

Hey everyone! Here is a watercolor painting that I did recently. I did it on a whim and it turned out pretty cute. If I may say so! The first picture is of the initial pencil and pen sketch that I did. The second photo is of the finished painting. I recently uploaded it to my Society6 and Redbubble shops of prints and products. Definitely check it out!

Sea Stained Glass

We have made it to June! I can’t believe it is already summer. Hopefully this summer will be full of pool time, popsicles on the deck and making fun memories. Once place that I wish we could visit this summer is the beach and ocean. It may just not happen this time around because of Corona virus. The one thing that I love to do while at the beach is looking for shells and sea glass. When I first started working on this watercolor painting, I didn’t know exactly what color story I was going to use. I ended up using blues and greens. The end result looks like a stained glass window using sea glass from the beach. It made my heart happy even though I wasn’t at the ocean. This painting is available on prints and product in my Society6 and Redbubble shops!

Beach Seagull

I wish I was back at the beach! All this Kansas tornado weather has been crazy. We had a mile wide tornado blast through our area last night. Luckily it did not hit the town I live in, but my hometown was right in the line of fire. Thank goodness all of my family and friends are safe and sound. Definitely sending my thoughts and prayers to all those with storm damage! I started drawing this guy a week ago before all this weather mess, but now I wish I was on the beach with him. I paid tribute to one of my kids favorite films by putting “mine, mine, mine!” on it. Do you all know what film that it is from? You guessed it, Finding Nemo! Enjoy!

Mermaid May

Hey everyone! It’s May and that means it time for Mer-May. Which means everyone likes to post art and projects that have to do with mermaids. I have always loved mermaids since I was little. My favorite movie in the 1st grade was The Little Mermaid. I watched it at least a 1,000 times and had Arial t-shirts and dolls. I was obsessed to say the least. So, I drew this piece just for the occasion. I originally drew her out in my sketchbook and then colored her in digitally using my Procreate app. I really like how she turned out. She has a pretty peaceful vibe. Definitely what I’m needing to finish off this week. Enjoy!

Purple Jellyfish

Soooo….am I the only one over this years winter yet? We have yet another snow day today! This has been the most snow days in one year in my entire existence in Kansas City. I’m ready for it to be spring! I want to see the sun, the grass (even though it’s brown) and beginnings of flowers growing. But until then, I will just keep posting cute and non cold related artwork…lol! Here is a cute jelly fish I created yesterday while my youngest was in preschool. It was drawn digitally using Procreate. I like how cute it turned out, but still feels moody. Do you think this guy is adorable, too? He’s available as an art print that is a digital download in my Etsy shop and on an array of products in my Society6 shop. Just use the links above on the menu. Have a great day! Enjoy!

Whale You Be Mine?

It’s already the middle of the week…yet there is so much to do! February in general is a busy month in my family because of birthdays, holidays and a lot of never ending no school days. This week in general is really bad because of the Valentine parties at my kids schools. I am a room coordinator for my oldest sons class and I feel like I’m going crazy getting everything together for his party on Friday. This past weekend I was able to get this guy finished since we had some plans cancel at last minute. He started out as just an idea in my sketchbook and blossomed into this. I took a picture of my drawing and used my Procreate app to make him come to life. I have always loved drawing characters that appeal to kids. They are way more fun to draw and tend to put me in a good mood. I would say that is a win! I hope you enjoy! He is also available in my shops!

Santa Fish

#tbt Here is a fun watercolor painting that I made for a Christmas card a couple of years ago. My husband’s grandmother commissioned me to make some illustrations for her Christmas cards that year. This particular painting was used on the cards that went out to all the grandkids. It was a lot of fun coming up with fish themed cards, since her last name is Fish. So naturally all the cards had a fish on them. I have always loved making and receiving Christmas cards. I feel like it’s beginning to be a lost art, hopefully it doesn’t go away.

Under the Sea

It’s finally the weekend! Everyone celebrate! A lot of stuff is going on in our house this weekend to get ready for July 4th. But it is also very hot here in the midwest, so we have been spending a lot of our free time in the pool in our backyard. It has been the best investment we have made this summer! So this piece only seems fitting! These cute sea life were drawn and colored in digitally using Procreate. I’m hoping to have this up on my shops soon! How cute would this be on a beach towel!

Mermaid Cat

Happy Sunday everyone! It’s so hot here in Kansas City. If I had my choice, I would be in a nice swimming pool all day long. Maybe that is the reason a lot of my artwork has to do with water lately… During the month of May, I saw a lot of artists do Mermay. It’s basically a month devoted to drawing and creating art that has to do with mermaids. I was a little late to the party and missed the memo, but I still wanted to create a mermaid piece. I thought I would do my own interpretation of a mermaid cat. This sweet kitty was drawn out and colored in digitally on my Procreate app. I just put this up on my Shops today! There is 25% off my Society6 shop till the end of the day! Use the code JUNEART at the S6 checkout.

Playful Narwhals

Hello everyone! Here is a group of playful narwhals to brighten everyones day. These cuties were drawn out and watercolored digitally using Adobe Sketch. I love how the program mimics the characteristics of watercolor and all the nuances. Plus you get an undo button for all your mistakes without messing up a painting you have been working hours on. I love the end result and how they turned out.
