Night Bubble Flowers

Happy Monday! I recently got the opportunity to hang up some of my artwork and be featured in a local coffee shop. One of the pieces that I put up was a watercolor painting of bubble flowers (left picture). I really liked how it turned out and wanted to explore this concept a little bit more. So I tried it out digitally. I played around in my Procreate app and fell in love with the black background against all the pops of colors (right picture). It’s really like how graphic it is. If you like the look of these prints, the version on white is up in my shops and I will have the version on black up today. Enjoy!

Alligator Loves Tulips

It’s Wednesday! That means this week is already half way done. How has everyone’s week been so far? It’s been pretty busy for our fam. It feels like the minute the weather heats up, the busier we get. It feels kind of nice considering the winter we had this year. Here is some more spring art to put some pep in your step or at least make your morning more bearable. This guy was created digitally using Procreate. I wanted him to experience spring to, since most of the time alligators are associated with summer. Who knew alligators would look so good surrounded by tulips! It’s the perfect match in my book. Enjoy!

Dandy Lions

Spring is finally here this time…..for real! This weather has been absolutely insane this year. Whenever I see dandelions popping out of the ground, it means Spring is finally here and lawn mowing season has begun. The drawing was made with pen and marker in my traveling sketchbook. Peace out, I’m going to go enjoy this beautiful weather before Mother Nature throws another curve ball.

Blooming Hedgehog

Today’s drawing was inspired by all the crazy weather we have had in the past couple of weeks. Mother Nature just can’t decide what season it wants to be lately. I’m so ready for Spring! So while it was snowing recently, I created this piece. It was sketched out with pencil and outlined with pen in my sketchbook. I then took a picture of it and finished coloring it in with Procreate. I’m very pleased with how it turned out and I really enjoy using this awesome technology to enhance my artwork!

P is for Panda

This week’s throw back Thursday #tbt art is another excerpt from my alphabet book. Today we are learning about the letter P. Who doesn’t love a panda? They are really beautiful animals. I love their color blocking, fluffiness and size. That’s why I knew I had to choose it over all the other animals that started with the letter P. This pretty panda was painted using watercolor and then outlined with black pen. The background is also watercolor but has a pattern from a scrap book paper overlay to give it more texture and visual interest. Happy Thursday everyone! I hope it treats you well!

Think Spring

I hope this Monday morning is treating everyone well. The weather here in Kansas City has been definitely crazy for it being the month of April. I feel that if I keep creating more Spring art pieces, the sooner it will start feeling like it. But this weather is just not cooperating. Please Mother Nature let the warm sun come out soon! This piece was made using Procreate on my IPad Pro using an Apple Pencil. From start to finish, it was created digitally while watching my kids favorite movie Ghost Busters for the millionth time. (I love it too!) Atleast something productive came from it. You can now shop this design at my Society6 shop at https://society6.com/ruthmillercreative. Have a happy Monday!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter from Ruth Miller Creative! It’s going to be a cold one here today. Stay warm out there. We will be staying nice and cozy inside eating delicious food. Enjoy!

Here Comes the Easter Bunny

Easter weekend is finally here! We are planning on doing most of our Easter festivities today due to the dreaded winter weather forecast they are predicting tomorrow. Yes, that means snow! Snow in April! Such a cruel April Fool’s joke Mother Nature. So we are going to die eggs and get all of our Easter egg hunts out of our system today while the weather is still agreeable. But other than the weather, we are having an amazing weekend with my Husband’s Mom, Step Dad and Grandma from Wisconsin. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Spring Chick

Happy Friday! Today is going to be a beautiful day in Kansas. It finally felt like spring on my walk this morning. I’m going to soak up as much sunshine the next couple days before we are supposed to get snow on Easter. What kind of weather is that mother nature?….lol! This sketch was made digitally using the program Illustrator. I still have a lot to learn but I like the clean look of how it turned out. Have a great Easter weekend!

D is for Dragonfly

This lovely watercolor dragonfly is an excerpt from my alphabet book I did for my thesis in college. I know, I know it’s old. But I still love looking at those pieces I did for that project, because I feel they are still relevant to my style of art that I’m doing today. I just like to think that I have matured my style a little bit….at least I hope so. Whenever I see dragonfly’s it makes me think of the Dragon Fly Inn from one of my favorite shows. What show is that you say? Well if you don’t know the answer, I don’t know if we can be friends….lol….just joking! After my youngest Jaxon was born, I binged watched every season of Gilmore Girls. I love that show and I can’t believe I didn’t watch it while it was on the air, but I managed to catch up before the Netflix special. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and watch it. Happy hump day everyone!
