Lazy Day

Hey everyone! I don’t know if you are like me, but today I have been just dragging my feet doing anything today. I am just tired with no motivation. And the worst is having to stop by the place I hate most, The Dentist. Don’t worry everyone, it wasn’t a bad visit! So today, I’m just going to go at my own pace. It is summer after all. Lazy days are always acceptable during the summer. I drew this using procreate. I just wanted to keep the lettering chunky, simple and to the point. Enjoy!

Sunshine On My Mind

Hey everyone! It’s supposed to be a dreary day here in KC today, but we really need the rain. My plants are looking forward to it!  It’s been so hot and the ground is so dry. My boys on the other hand are acting like the world is ending since they can’t have any pool time today. They definitely have sunshine on their minds at all times! I drew this last week during a little bit of downtime I had before a playdate we had. Summer is in full swing and it has been definitely nice to start seeing some friends and enjoying the sunshine together. I hope everyone’s summer is going great so far!

Choose Happy

Hey everyone! I feel like this week I finally had a wave of creativity and have had many ideas just flowing out of my brain. It’s been really nice since it feels like I have hit a creative block during this quarantine. I have been having to force myself to sit and draw. So I will definitely embrace this spurt of creativity. Here is one of the doodles that I did last night on my iPad using the Procreate app. It’s nothing too fancy, but I like how it turned out. This message does really come at a good time! We should all try to choose happiness during these uncertain times. I am really trying to practice this daily. What kind of things are you trying to do to keep happy? I have been trying to keep creative, baking my favorite treats, enjoying my garden and making simple home improvements. I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe! Enjoy!

Think Positive

Hey everyone! Here is a lettering doodle that I did this past week. I downloaded some new procreate brushes and had fun playing around with them. I know the phrase “think positive” is pretty basic, but it should definitely be the motto right now with everything happening around us. I have repeatedly had to say this to myself during this quarantine. I know I’m probably not the only one! So I just felt that I should just put this out there in case someone needs to read that phrase today. I also played around with the animation feature in Procreate and thought it would be cool to see it come to life. I just put this design up in my Society6 and Redbubble shops if you would like a print to help inspire you daily.

Happy Mother’s Day 2020

Happy Mother’s Day from Ruth Miller Creative! I hope all the mother’s out there have a fabulous day and are spoiled rotten. I especially want to wish my mom Kristy and mother in law Stacey a very Happy Mother’s Day. We appreciate everything you both do for our family! I created this drawing this past week while my two boys were working on school work. I wanted to keep it bright and cheery to mimic Spring. Luckily the weather will be cooperating with us in KC. The temperature is cool, the flowers are blooming and it just feels great to be outside. We have gotten so much landscaping done in the past two weeks and our yard looks great. I love being outside and doing yard work. Make sure to enjoy outside and celebrate all the mom’s in your life! Enjoy!

Create Beauty Everyday

Here’s a quick drawing that I did this past week while trying to decompress. Drawing definitely helps me relax and take my mind off of things. I find it’s even more important during the times that we are in. Any time I draw something, I try to create something that makes me happy and my version of beautiful. What kinds of beauty are you creating that makes you happy? I drew this digitally on my iPad in the program Procreate. I keep finding more and more things to learn about the program. I’m just soaking it all in! I hope this piece of artwork brings a smile to your face and sparks you to create new things!

Stay Home

Hey everyone! I recently did this drawing because of the scenario that is happening around us. But then I saw that people were protesting to open everything up again….let me just say, how stupid!! I do understand the argument of people suffering from not being able to work and not being able to provide for their families. Which is unfortunate and we should live in a country that supports everyone in an event like this.  I will be the first person to say that I hate being stuck at home and not being able to do the things I enjoy most. But getting out to “buy things” and getting your “hair cut” is not a valid reason to open up the economy to risk more people getting sick and more deaths. It will just make everything spike again and we will have to just restart this process all over again. I think these people are incredibly selfish. So this drawing means even more than when I first drew it. Stay healthy, stay strong, stay safe and for heavens sake just stay home!

Plant Lover

Hey everyone! It’s been a crazy weekend at our house celebrating my littlest’s birthday. But now it’s Monday and I’m hoping this week will go back to our normal schedule. Preferably with no snow days….ha! I drew this little doodle on my iPad this past week. My dad is a gardener and has an amazing green thumb. He taught me everything I know about plants and flowers. When the weather is warm, we always walk around his yard/garden and he likes to show me all the new blooms coming up. It’s our thing that we like to do together. I definitely get me love of plants and flowers from him. So this quick little sketch is dedicated to my Dad. Enjoy!
