Merry Christmas Snowman

Merry Christmas from Ruth Miller Creative! It’s been an amazing Christmas season for my family. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! This cute snowman was created digitally with Procreate.

Mountain Scene Snowflake

During the Christmas chaos this past week, I tried to take time to decompress and draw a little bit. Here is a fun snow flake that I created during my downtime. It’s made up of primarily cool colors and show cases a mountain scene with a deer. It was really fun to make in Procreate. I used the guided drawing tool which lets you just draw in one grid and it puts the same drawing in all four grids. Definitely made it way easier to make a snowflake using that feature. Make sure to take some time to decompress amongst all the crazy this holiday season! 4 days until Christmas!

Winter Woodland Scene

I can’t believe Christmas is only 12 days away! I feel like it was just Thanksgiving. It’s funny how time does that! We have had a busy week at my house. In between appointments and errands, I managed to squeeze in some downtime to draw. This winter woodland scene was just the break I needed. I really love how it turned out and I hope you enjoy it too!

Hello Winter

Hi everyone! So Thanksgiving is over with and now it’s starting to feel like Christmas. Which also means the weather is going to get crazy and cold. The one thing I do enjoy about the cold weather is getting to wear hats and scarves. I love the feeling of being cozy! I began this sketch before Thanksgiving, but wasn’t able to finish it until this week due to the holiday craziness and everyone being sick in my house. So here is the finished piece. I used watercolor to color everything in and outlined it with a micron pen. I love using microns with watercolor because they do not bleed when touched with water. This piece is available in my Society6 and Redbubble shops!

Snow Day

We officially have a snow day here in Kansas City! It’s hard to believe the weather forecast, when it is wrong most of the time. But it was spot on this time. At my house we have about 6 inches and the snow is continuing to fall. Thank goodness we didn’t have much planned for today. So that means I get to look at the snow from a nice, cozy spot from my inside my house. The best way to view snow in my opinion. Plus that means I get to work on some projects! Stay tuned in the next couple weeks to see some new stuff I’m working on.

Christmas Pup

2 days until Christmas! I repeat 2 days until Christmas! My boys have been counting down the days very closely all week long. I get an update the minute I get up in the morning. It’s been pretty funny to see how much they are excited about Christmas this year. This fun Christmas pup was created for one of my Christmas cards one year. He was made with pen and marker and then scanned in. I put the snowflakes in the background using Photoshop. This cute guy always puts a smile on my face!

Santa Fish

#tbt Here is a fun watercolor painting that I made for a Christmas card a couple of years ago. My husband’s grandmother commissioned me to make some illustrations for her Christmas cards that year. This particular painting was used on the cards that went out to all the grandkids. It was a lot of fun coming up with fish themed cards, since her last name is Fish. So naturally all the cards had a fish on them. I have always loved making and receiving Christmas cards. I feel like it’s beginning to be a lost art, hopefully it doesn’t go away.

All is Calm

It’s Tuesday and Christmas is only a week away. After my oldest son’s holiday party at school tomorrow, it should be smooth sailing for me. This is the first year I actually feel calm about Christmas. I worked in retail for over 16 years and the holidays were not exactly my favorite. But after having kids and now staying at home, I have grown to embrace it. I hope everyone can find their inner calm this holiday season. This sweet little owl was drawn digitally on my iPad. Enjoy!

Winter “One”derland

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share this really cute invitation that I was asked to make for a recent first birthday. The theme was winter “one”derland. How adorable….right? I love how it turned out. I made a boy and girl version of this invite and put them available to purchase in my Etsy shop. Spread the word!

Hot Cocoa Polar Bear

It’s definitely a perfect day for a cup of hot cocoa here in Kansas City. My drink of choice in the winter time. It’s spitting snow outside this morning and it’s really cold. I’m getting my perfect mug of hot cocoa ready as we speak. Here is a piece I did a while ago for one of my Christmas cards, of course I had to incorporate my favorite drink in a painting. This cute polar bear was painted with watercolor and outlined in pen. Hopefully you all enjoy him as much as I did creating him.
