I can’t believe Valentines Day is just next week. How is that possible? I’ve been trying to come up with some new designs this year for love day. This is one that I created just for the occasion. It’s definitely more like a doodle. My doodles tend to look like tattoo drawings. That is how all my sketchbook pages looked like in high school. I still really like that style of drawing. I drew this out digitally using my apple pencil and the Procreate app. Technology has definitely come a long way since my high school sketch book days….I love it! Enjoy!

January is almost over and that means Valentines Day is just around the corner. I have been trying to continue to create new Valentine art work. Here is another cute piece that I created this past week. I have always had a soft spot for Yetis ever since I saw Bumble in the Rudolph tv special growing up. I know it’s weird, since he was the monster trying to capture Rudolph and his friends. But I always thought he was pretty cool after he got that out of his system and was nice to everyone. This piece features a yeti holding a heart just in time for Valentines Day. I drew this out digitally using Procreate. I have this now available in my Society6 and Redbubble shops on art prints and product.
Hey everyone! The weather here in Kansas City has been a little nutty lately. 50 degrees one day then a snow day the next. I just can’t keep up with it. It’s showing snow here in the forecast the next 3 days. This mama is praying we don’t have any more snow days. Fingers crossed…lol! I drew this sweet little piece a couple of days ago using the Procreate. I wanted to create more Valentines Day art and keep practicing lettering. I wanted to keep this simple to let the lettering stand out, but I did add little extra pizzaz in the background. Hopefully this brings a smile to your face if you are having dreary weather today! This sweet art is available on products in my Society6 and Redbubble shops.

Today I’m posting about a watercolor painting that I made as a Christmas gift. The painting was for my husbands Aunt. She is a librarian and her last name is Fish. So it was natural to have the idea of a cute fish reading books in its fish bowl. It was really fun to come up with concept. I really enjoy making home made gifts for people, especially family. The painting is about 5×7 in size and will be perfect for her office or a little reading nook. If you need any custom art or paintings made, shoot me a message! I would love to help!
Hey everyone! Today I’m posting a pet portrait that I was commissioned to make. I was referred to her by a dear friend on a group in Facebook. It’s amazing what referrals and recommendations can do. I appreciate them all! I painted a pet portrait of her cat and dog together out of watercolor. I used photos for reference. Below are some of the process photos of the portrait. I love painting animals! If you are in the need for a pet portrait, send me a message for a quote!
It’s the weekend finally! We have removed all signs of Christmas from our house and we feel like we can finally relax. I’m excited that our normal schedule will be going back to normal soon. Since Christmas is over, I can finally post some the projects and gifts that I worked on leading up to the holiday season. I made this watercolor painting for my husband’s Grandma who loves to make quilts. I tried to mimic the threads and pattern on a quilt. To get the crisp white lines, I used some painters tape. After everything was watercolored and dried, I used a silver metallic gel pen to draw patterns on top represent the top stitching that quilts usually have. His Grandma loved the painting and I was very pleased with how it turned out.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! The excitement has been contagious from my two boys and they can’t wait until Christmas tomorrow. I drew this piece digitally on my iPad and it was inspired by some Christmas decor that I bought this season. They are these cute little porcelain houses that light up. I wanted to recreate one of them in a Christmas scene with lights at night. I love how the final piece turned out!
Hello everyone! 2 days until Christmas! I saw this phrase last year on something and loved it! It’s the perfect saying for this time of year. I knew that I wanted to put my own spin on it and practice doing lettering. I used Procreate and it’s brushes to make the lettering, wreath and the rustic wood planks in the background. I wanted to keep it simple and to the point. Love the overall look!
During the Christmas chaos this past week, I tried to take time to decompress and draw a little bit. Here is a fun snow flake that I created during my downtime. It’s made up of primarily cool colors and show cases a mountain scene with a deer. It was really fun to make in Procreate. I used the guided drawing tool which lets you just draw in one grid and it puts the same drawing in all four grids. Definitely made it way easier to make a snowflake using that feature. Make sure to take some time to decompress amongst all the crazy this holiday season! 4 days until Christmas!
It’s almost here! Christmas is 6 days away! My whole family is gearing up for the holidays and my boys are super excited. Between the moments of chaos I have been trying to sneak in some drawing time to decompress. This is one of my drawing moments this past week. I keep trying to improve my lettering. Practice makes perfect….right? I created this using Procreate. I love everything about this, especially the red buffalo plaid print in the background. It’s my favorite obsession right now. I have pillows and blankets of it all around my living room. Enjoy!
