Birthday Pup

Today is a special day! It is my youngest son’s 5th birthday. I can’t believe he’s 5! That means I have been not working (except freelance) for 5 years now. It boggles my mind. It feels like he was born just yesterday and now we are headed to Kindergarten round up for next year. How is this possible! Well my youngest son is obsessed with all puppies and kitties, actually animals in general. I wanted to make a cute pup in honor of his birthday. I created this puppy in Procreate and really love how he turned out. Happy Birthday Goober!

Comparison is the Thief of Joy

Hey everyone! I have been doing some doodles in my digital sketch book in Procreate. The weather has been giving us some warmer days which is making me have spring envy. But with those warmer days, we keep getting weird random snow storms just to keep us on our toes. I saw the phrase “Comparison is the Thief of Joy” and knew I needed to create something with it. The phrase definitely resonates with me right now. I need to stop comparing myself to other artists and friends in their phase of life. I have all these goals and aspirations right now, but I know that it will all work out when it’s meant to be. I hope you enjoy the Spring vibes this is giving, because I am definitely ready for Spring. Enjoy!

Love You Valentine

I can’t believe Valentines Day is just next week. How is that possible? I’ve been trying to come up with some new designs this year for love day. This is one that I created just for the occasion. It’s definitely more like a doodle. My doodles tend to look like tattoo drawings. That is how all my sketchbook pages looked like in high school. I still really like that style of drawing. I drew this out digitally using my apple pencil and the Procreate app. Technology has definitely come a long way since my high school sketch book days….I love it! Enjoy!

KC Love

It’s been an absolute crazy week in Kansas City this week! The Chiefs won the Super Bowl and the whole town is painted in Red. My kids have Wednesday off from school for a red snow day to help celebrate the Chiefs victory. The whole metro is pretty much shutting down to celebrate! I created this KC heart logo to cheer on the Chiefs and now it’s crazy because they actually won. I got a lot of interest in it and put the design in my shops. This design is now available on tees, cups, prints, phone cases and more product. Here are the links to my shop:

Yeti Love Monster

January is almost over and that means Valentines Day is just around the corner. I have been trying to continue to create new Valentine art work. Here is another cute piece that I created this past week. I have always had a soft spot for Yetis ever since I saw Bumble in the Rudolph tv special growing up. I know it’s weird, since he was the monster trying to capture Rudolph and his friends. But I always thought he was pretty cool after he got that out of his system and was nice to everyone. This piece features a yeti holding a heart just in time for Valentines Day. I drew this out digitally using Procreate. I have this now available in my Society6 and Redbubble shops on art prints and product.

Hey Cutie Pie

Hey everyone! The weather here in Kansas City has been a little nutty lately. 50 degrees one day then a snow day the next. I just can’t keep up with it. It’s showing snow here in the forecast the next 3 days. This mama is praying we don’t have any more snow days. Fingers crossed…lol! I drew this sweet little piece a couple of days ago using the Procreate. I wanted to create more Valentines Day art and keep practicing lettering. I wanted to keep this simple to let the lettering stand out, but I did add little extra pizzaz in the background. Hopefully this brings a smile to your face if you are having dreary weather today! This sweet art is available on products in my Society6 and Redbubble shops.

Book Fish

Today I’m posting about a watercolor painting that I made as a Christmas gift. The painting was for my husbands Aunt. She is a librarian and her last name is Fish. So it was natural to have the idea of a cute fish reading books in its fish bowl. It was really fun to come up with concept. I really enjoy making home made gifts for people, especially family. The painting is about 5×7 in size and will be perfect for her office or a little reading nook. If you need any custom art or paintings made, shoot me a message! I would love to help!

Cat & Dog Pet Portrait

Hey everyone! Today I’m posting a pet portrait that I was commissioned to make. I was referred to her by a dear friend on a group in Facebook. It’s amazing what referrals and recommendations can do. I appreciate them all! I painted a pet portrait of her cat and dog together out of watercolor. I used photos for reference. Below are some of the process photos of the portrait. I love painting animals! If you are in the need for a pet portrait, send me a message for a quote!

Watercolor Quilt Pattern

It’s the weekend finally! We have removed all signs of Christmas from our house and we feel like we can finally relax. I’m excited that our normal schedule will be going back to normal soon. Since Christmas is over, I can finally post some the projects and gifts that I worked on leading up to the holiday season. I made this watercolor painting for my husband’s Grandma who loves to make quilts. I tried to mimic the threads and pattern on a quilt. To get the crisp white lines, I used some painters tape. After everything was watercolored and dried, I used a silver metallic gel pen to draw patterns on top represent the top stitching that quilts usually have. His Grandma loved the painting and I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Silent Night

Merry Christmas Eve everyone! The excitement has been contagious from my two boys and they can’t wait until Christmas tomorrow. I drew this piece digitally on my iPad and it was inspired by some Christmas decor that I bought this season. They are these cute little porcelain houses that light up. I wanted to recreate one of them in a Christmas scene with lights at night. I love how the final piece turned out!
